Taking place in May the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival has grown to become the third largest walking festival in the country. There are over 90 walks to choose from across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
2015 will see the Lincolnshire Wolds providing the backdrop for a major sporting event, the British National Road Race and Time Trial Championships. The Time Trial Championships will be held on 25th June, starting and finishing at Cadwell Park, near Louth.
Following on from this the annual SO Festival takes place from 25th June to 5th July this year and will offer art, culture, theatre and comedy to our market towns, culminating in a big finale weekend in Skegness.
Continuing with the festival theme, every July residents and visitors to Woodhall Spa step back in time for the popular 1940s Festival. July also sees the switch on of the Mablethorpe Illuminations and Sutton on Sea Carnival, shortly followed by the Skegness Illuminations and Skegness Carnival at the beginning of August.
Nearby Cadwell Park, frequently referred to as the ‘mini Nurburgring’ has become synonymous with the annual MCE British Superbike Championship ‘Party in the Park’ held on August Bank Holiday weekend.
For those who prefer something a little quieter, the Wolds Words Festival, held annually in October, features readings by authors and poets, writing courses, stand up comedy, craft making and theatre performances in Louth and the surrounding area.
For fast-paced action the Amateur Motorcycle Association Skegness Beach Race, held every November, is one of the largest off-road events in the UK.
In December, Skegness, Mablethorpe, Louth, Horncastle and Sutton on Sea all host traditional Christmas markets selling crafts and festive gifts, mince pies and mulled wine.
