Greater Lincolnshire - Gainsborough Old Hall

Topic Progress:

One of the best preserved timber framed manor houses in the country can be found in Gainsborough, whose Old Hall is over 500 years old.

Gainsborough Old Hall is a large, late-mediaeval manor house built by the noble Burgh family around 1460 which retains its original brick-built tower. Inside is the impressive Great Hall, the original mediaeval kitchen, and the East and West ranges featuring a ‘ghost corridor’.

Famous visitors to the Old Hall down the years have included Richard III, Henry VIII, John Wesley and the Pilgrim Fathers.
